Job Title: Technical Services Specialist
Department: Technical Services
Reports To: EHS Director, Scientific & Technical Excellence
Location: Gardena, CA
Work Model: Hybrid eligible after successful 90-day onboarding
FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $70,000- $85,000 per year
Summary
The position of Technical Services Specialist is responsible for providing professional and efficient support to all customers and internal teams. This is a critical role in providing superior customer experience to our customers who need certain documents to move forward in purchasing quality products from Spectrum. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares and delivers customer product statement requests that come in via email and phone, as recorded via the company’s Zendesk system.
- Ensure customer requests are responded to the same-day; ensure tickets opened and assigned to Technical Services are “closed” once resolved.
- Coordinates and prepares technical questionnaires; ability to work cross-functionally with various departments to complete these requests (largely Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Sales, and Operations).
- Provides documentation to customers on demand; some of these documents include flow charts, residual solvent statements, shelf life, elemental impurity statements, etc.
- Provides references and resources regarding our products and/or customers applications.
- Determines actions necessary to eliminate recurrence of customer inquiries to streamline customers buying habits and improve customer experience.
- Ability to cross reference products from competitors using website and/or other tools.
- Provides customers with accurate technical data with a “soon as possible” time frame.
- Maintains and updates Technical Service database.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./ B.S.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, ERP and MRP systems
- Demonstrated professional process management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong presentation skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
- This is a full-time position(40.00 hours per week). While the role is primarily on site (at least 3 days per week on-site, 2 remote days per week – once out of the probationary training period).
- Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required based on business needs.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to prepare presentations and write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
