Traffic Engineer

Jersey City, NJ – Onsite


We are seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Jersey City, NJ. This role will be responsible for traffic analysis, data gathering, reporting, and design for land development and infrastructure projects throughout New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.


Responsibilities:

• Prepare traffic engineering and traffic impact analyses

• Prepare client proposals

• Perform highway and geometric roadway design

• Support DOT access permitting

• Prepare signage and striping plans

• Conduct parking demand and feasibility studies

• Conduct corridor studies

• Perform traffic signal design and construction inspection

• Provide expert testimony at municipal board hearings

• Develop and execute project objectives, timelines, goals, and budgets

• Communicate professionally and effectively with clients and jurisdictions

• Attend and participate in project and construction meetings

• Assist with project pursuits, new business development, and client relationship development

• Identify potential projects and develop strategies to grow the practice


Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

• 5–10 years of traffic/transportation engineering experience

• Professional Engineer (PE) registration required

• Experience preparing Traffic Impact Studies

• Proven client management experience

• Experience with NJDOT and county permitting requirements and standards

• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation


Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification

• Knowledge and practical experience with HCS, AASHTO, MUTCD, ADA/PROWAG, NJDOT, NJTA, and related standards

• Experience with drainage and stormwater management design

• Knowledge of transportation-related permitting requirements and experience coordinating across engineering disciplines

• Experience preparing Traffic Signal Plans and Electrical Plans
