Transportation General Manager

Windstar Lines is seeking a General Manager based at our St. Louis, MO location. This manager position directs and coordinates all activities of the location to develop and grow the business with a strong focus on safety and quality, while managing the various functional areas of the organization.

Essential Job Functions:

· Ensures all departments are properly staffed by overseeing the effective recruiting, hiring, and promoting the right people for the right positions.

· Makes sure employees are being effectively managed daily to maximize productivity and morale, including through coaching of key leaders/employees.

· Optimizes employee performance through effective ongoing evaluations, recognition, rewards, and discipline/corrective-management to produce expected results.

· Strengthens employee performance through timely training and development.

· Effectively structures the organization’s systems, processes, and procedures to facilitate the achievement of results and productive intra-company/inter-departmental coordination.

· Successfully resolves deviations from expected performance through systems that monitor and track performance.

· Ensures adherence to policies and procedures; and makes policy recommendations to the executive team.

· Continuously seeks new and more productive ways to achieve company goals.

· Ensures the company proactively and effectively manages customer expectations.

· Promotes, evaluates, monitors and is responsive to customer feedback, including the resolution of issues and problems.

· Continuously seeks new and more productive ways to achieve company goals.

Essential Job Skills:

· Ability to timely respond to common inquiries or concerns from customers, the public and/or governmental and regulatory agencies.

· Ability to effectively present information to current and potential customers, executive management, and public groups.

· Competent with technology/computers including Microsoft Office suite.

· Strong mathematical and grammatical skills.

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
