Overview

Jewish Community High School (JCHS), located in San Francisco, is seeking a Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach for the Winter 2026-27 season. The season begins on November 2, 2026 and ends in mid-late February/early March 2027, depending on playoffs. JCHS is a member of the Bay Area Conference and Bay Counties League-Central. League opponents: Gateway, Bay, International, Drew, and SF Waldorf.

Experience/Qualifications

A strong candidate would be someone with experience coaching basketball at the high school and/or college level - any additional experience is welcome. Potential candidates must be able to teach the fundamentals of basketball as well as be able to work and challenge higher level players. In our everyday interactions, policies, practices and programs JCHS aspires to be an inclusive school that lives its commitment to equity, empathy, cultural competence and respect. Religious affiliation NOT required.


Duties and Responsibilities

1. Performing all duties assigned by the Athletic Director as they relate to the coaching and supervision of assigned team, compliant with JCHS Athletic Coaches’ Handbook.

2. Perform all duties associated with planning, organizing and diligently supervising team activities, working in cooperation with other JCHS Coaches.

3. Knowing, understanding, implementing, and monitoring compliance with JCHS, Bay Area Conference, North Coast Section, and California Interscholastic Federation rules, policies, and regulations.

4. Assessing player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the

Athletic Director informed of the athletic performance of students.

5. Supervising athletes during practices and competition.

6. Following established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.

7. Modeling good sportsmanship behavior and maintaining appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.

8. Participating in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets/award nights.


Compensation:

Competitive, and commensurate with experience
