National Veterinary Associates

SPRINGFIELD, MO

Full job description

General Practice + Urgent Care | Four-Day Work Week | No After-Hours Emergencies | Collaborative DVM TeamLooking for a hospital where you can see a wide variety of cases, practice great medicine, and still have a life outside of work?At Grant Pet Hospital & Urgent Care, you'll get the variety of general practice and urgent care medicine while working alongside a DVM team that genuinely works together. For more than 50 years, Grant has been a trusted part of the Springfield community, building lasting relationships with clients and their pets while providing high-quality, compassionate care. With 18–26 scheduled appointments per DVM each day, urgent care opportunities that are managed according to the team's capacity, flexible surgery scheduling, and no after-hours emergency responsibilities, Grant offers the variety of medicine you're looking for without requiring an emergency-hospital lifestyle. Why Grant? We are Springfield's only labeled urgent care hospital, seeing everything from routine wellness and sick appointments to urgent and emergency cases. Our team works together to manage the caseload so that patient care remains the priority. Urgent cases may be accepted as drop-offs or fit-ins throughout the day, and hospitalized cases from the overnight emergency hospital and other local clinics can also be cared for during the day.The result is a diverse caseload without sacrificing medical standards or quality of care.
  • 18–26 scheduled appointments per DVM per day, with urgent care cases incorporated based on the team's capacity
  • Diverse caseload that can range from routine wellness and internal medicine to urgent and emergency cases
  • Collaborative DVM team that works together throughout the day
  • Doctors routinely review radiographs together and discuss cases, medications, and new approaches to medicine
  • Team members jump in to help when a doctor gets behind or needs assistance
  • Experienced technicians and support staff committed to high-quality patient care
  • Culture of continued learning and improvement
Surgery & Clinical InterestsWe believe doctors should have the opportunity to practice the medicine they enjoy.Surgery can be scheduled as either a half-day or full day, depending on your preference. Surgeries are currently booking approximately 1–2 weeks in advance, and doctors can develop their own areas of interest.
  • Dedicated surgery time available
  • Opportunities for both soft-tissue surgery and dentistry
  • Freedom to develop your clinical interests
  • Ability to work with hospital leadership to explore adding equipment or services that support your professional interests
A Team That Actually Works TogetherOne of the things that makes Grant different is how closely our DVM team works together.Doctors collaborate throughout the day rather than practicing independently. Radiographs are routinely reviewed by the DVM team working that day, doctors discuss cases and medication updates informally, and team members step in to help when someone needs support. The hospital also invests in continued learning, with monthly staff meetings, L&Ls, and opportunities to attend CE together. The goal isn't simply to provide more training—it's to continually improve how the team practices medicine and cares for patients.Strong Support StaffYou'll have a team around you so you can focus on practicing medicine.
  • 1 technician per doctor plus a float technician each day
  • 1 full-time RVT and 1 part-time RVT
  • 4 veterinary assistants
  • 2 client service representatives

A Different Kind of Urgent CareGrant works closely with the veterinary community in Springfield rather than competing against it.We partner with the overnight emergency hospital and other local clinics to help care for patients when they don't have the ability to take on additional cases. We also work with patients' primary veterinarians to ensure continuity of care rather than trying to take over those client relationships.Grant also partners with HavaHeart Rescue, providing surgeries and wellness support to foster pets in the local rescue community.Flexible Opportunities Within Our Family of HospitalsWant to expand your experience?Grant's sister hospital, Bradford Park Veterinary Hospital, offers an optional opportunity to spend part of your time gaining exposure to scheduled appointments, advanced procedures, specialty medicine, clinical trials, and endoscopy.Your primary workplace will remain Grant Pet Hospital & Urgent Care, but you'll have the flexibility to experience a different practice environment and expand your clinical exposure if you'd like.Work-Life BalanceWe believe you should be able to build a rewarding veterinary career without giving up your life outside the hospital.
