Accounting Manager

Greater Philadelphia Area

$900M Subsidiary of a Fortune 50 Company

The Opportunity

Our client is a large, growing $900M building products and construction services organization operating as a subsidiary of a Fortune 50 company.

The organization continues to invest in its accounting infrastructure and leadership team as it grows and integrates within a larger public-company environment. This creates an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Manager who wants meaningful responsibility, visibility to senior leadership, and exposure to a complex, multi-entity business.

The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Director of Accounting and play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, leading and developing accounting staff, supporting the close process, and ensuring consistent application of U.S. GAAP.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys both the technical side of accounting and developing a strong team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and develop Senior and Staff Accountants.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, workload planning, and performance feedback.
  • Lead key aspects of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial results.
  • Ensure consistent application of U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
  • Support and strengthen internal controls, SOX compliance, accounting policies, and process documentation.
  • Partner with Operations, FP&A, and other functional leaders to support accounting requirements and provide financial insight.
  • Review financial results and identify significant variances, trends, risks, and potential issues.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and leadership-facing materials.
  • Provide accounting support related to new initiatives, transactions, and organizational changes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
  • Participate in systems enhancements, automation initiatives, and ERP-related projects.
  • Support accounting within a complex parent/subsidiary and multi-entity reporting environment.

Qualifications

  • CPA required.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Combination of public accounting and industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience is a plus.
  • Prior people-management experience with a demonstrated ability to develop accounting professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial close, reconciliations, accounting operations, and internal controls.
  • Experience working in a large, fast-paced, high-growth, or public-company environment.
  • Experience operating within a parent/subsidiary structure, including corporate accounting policies, SOX controls, and consolidation requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other business functions.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong process-improvement mindset.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • ERP experience preferred; exposure to SAP S/4HANA is a plus.
  • Experience within building products, manufacturing, industrial distribution, construction services, or a multi-location/multi-entity organization is preferred.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Join a $900M business backed by the resources and stability of a Fortune 50 parent company.
  • Work directly with the Director of Accounting and gain meaningful visibility across the organization.
  • Lead and develop an accounting team while remaining involved in technical accounting and financial reporting.
  • Gain exposure to a complex, multi-entity organization undergoing continued growth and evolution.
  • Participate in process improvement, systems initiatives, automation, and the continued development of the accounting organization.
  • Opportunity to build valuable experience within a large-scale public-company environment.
