Accounting Manager

Our client, a privately held company with >$30M in revenue in the Elk Grove/Itasca area, is seeking an Accounting Manager to take ownership of core accounting activities across its operating businesses. The organization offers a stable, hands-on environment with direct exposure to the Controller and ownership.

This is an individual contributor position rather than a people-management role. It is well suited for a strong Senior Accountant who is ready to take greater ownership of the close and broaden their responsibilities over time, or an Accounting Manager who enjoys staying hands-on and is looking for a stable organization where they can build a long-term career.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
• Prepare account reconciliations, trial balance support, and monthly financial statements for Controller review.
• Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for the general ledger and outside accounting firm.
• Review accounts receivable aging and help drive collection efforts and resolution of outstanding balances.
• Perform bank reconciliations and support day-to-day cash management activities.
• Prepare cash reporting and assist with ACH payments and wire transfers.
• Support applicable sales tax reporting.
• Participate in budgeting and other accounting or financial projects based on experience and interest.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on general accounting experience with the ability to own month-end close activities.
• Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting and trial balance responsibilities.
• Experience working with accounts receivable and cash management activities.
• Working knowledge of Excel, including formulas and lookup functions.
• Budgeting experience is a plus.
• Stable work history and an interest in learning and taking on additional responsibility.

Work Setup/Location

This is a 100% onsite. This role will typically operate around a 40-hour workweek.
