StaffBoom is a private equity-backed, growing organization with U.S. and international operations. Our finance team is continuing to strengthen and scale accounting, reporting, controls, systems, and analytical processes to support the business.
Position SummaryStaffBoom is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee key corporate accounting activities, including general ledger, month-end close, account reconciliations, U.S. accounts payable, audit and tax support, and management of a distributed accounting team. This is a hands-on role with meaningful responsibility for accounting execution, financial analysis, process improvement, and systems optimization.
The position may be fully remote within the U.S.; candidates located within reasonable proximity to StaffBoom's headquarters in Anaheim, California, are preferred. The role requires regular collaboration with teams operating in Pacific Time and internationally.
Key Responsibilities• Manage day-to-day general ledger accounting processes and help ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Lead significant portions of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial review.
• Perform month-end analytical activities, including account fluctuation, trend, and budget-to-actual analysis, and provide accounting data and support to the FP&A function.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are investigated and resolved timely.
• Oversee U.S. accounts payable operations, including workflows, controls, approvals, and payment processing through BILL.com.
• Manage, develop, and review the work of 2-3 accounting staff located in the Philippines.
• Support partner distribution calculations, documentation, approvals, and processing within a private equity-backed ownership structure.
• Support the annual tax compliance cycle, including schedules and detailed records required for partnership tax filings, K-1 preparation, and other federal and state tax filings.
• Serve as a primary accounting contact for external auditors; respond directly to requests, provide detailed supporting documentation, resolve questions, and help drive the annual audit through completion.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, process narratives, and internal control documentation.
• Participate in Microsoft Business Central optimization, reporting improvements, consolidation, accounting automation, and development of scalable workflows and controls.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and other finance initiatives as needed.
• Partner effectively with finance, operations, tax advisors, auditors, and other stakeholders across a geographically distributed organization.
Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred.
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant general ledger, month-end close, and account reconciliation responsibility.
• Prior experience supervising or managing accounting staff.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting annual financial statement audits and interacting directly with external auditors.
• Experience overseeing accounts payable processes.
• Strong analytical skills, including financial statement analysis, variance analysis, and support of FP&A activities.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to work efficiently with large data sets, reconciliations, analytical schedules, and financial models.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior management, auditors, tax advisors, and remote international teams.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple close, audit, tax, and accounting priorities simultaneously.
Preferred Experience• Experience in a private equity-backed or similarly complex ownership environment.
• Experience with partnership accounting, partner distributions, K-1 support, or partnership tax compliance.
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or other Microsoft Dynamics ERP experience.
• Business Central consolidation and multi-entity accounting experience.
• BILL.com experience.
• Accounting process automation, workflow improvement, and ERP optimization experience.
• Experience working in a multi-entity or international organization.
• Experience developing and maintaining accounting process narratives and control documentation.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting manager who is comfortable both reviewing the work of others and personally preparing or resolving complex accounting matters when necessary. This person can move effectively between detailed accounting work, staff management, financial analysis, audit and tax support, systems improvement, and process ownership. They should be able to take ownership of core accounting processes, identify inefficiencies, and help build a scalable accounting function as StaffBoom continues to grow. $125,000-$150,000 base salary, plus annual performance bonus and benefits
