Full job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Assistant Controller with strong manufacturing industry experience to support the company’s accounting and financial operations. This role will assist in overseeing month-end close, financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory controls, budgeting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, standard costing, variance analysis, and internal controls.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and sub-ledgers
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, labor, overhead, and production variances
  • Assist with cost accounting functions, including standard costing and inventory valuation
  • Monitor inventory controls and help ensure accurate physical inventory counts and reconciliations
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Help ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Partner with operations and plant leadership to improve financial performance and reporting accuracy
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
  • Support cash flow management and other ad hoc financial analysis as needed


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting
  • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Understanding of GAAP and internal controls
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting a Controller in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems used in manufacturing operations
  • Familiarity with standard costing, BOMs, and production reporting
