Duties:

  • Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and other litigation documents.
  • Prepare for and conduct depositions, hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trials.
  • Develop and execute effective litigation strategies in collaboration with clients, experts, partners, and senior attorneys.
  • Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with clients, including providing regular case updates and comprehensive written status reports.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare strategic legal memoranda addressing complex litigation issues.
  • Draft, prepare, and argue dispositive motions.
  • Take and defend depositions and manage all aspects of discovery.
  • Handle arbitrations and mediations, leveraging prior alternative dispute resolution (ADR) experience to effectively advocate for clients.
  • Prepare detailed and comprehensive status reports for insurance carriers.
  • Work closely with partners and senior attorneys to ensure effective case management, timely resolution, and high-quality client service.


Requirements

  • 5+ years of litigation experience, with a strong background defending matters involving transportation, construction litigation, and tort liability.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage cases from inception through resolution.
  • Ability to meet 1860 yearly billable hour requirement.
  • Substantial experience taking and defending depositions.
  • Experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience responding to and propounding discovery requests.
  • Prior experience handling arbitrations and mediations.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive, clear, and timely status reports for insurance carriers.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
