Position Summary

Summerhill Associates is seeking a motivated Assistant Project Manager with 2–4 years of professional experience in landscape construction and/or project management. This position is responsible for supporting the successful execution of high-end landscape projects from preconstruction and estimating through construction and completion.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform site inventories, field measurements, and other site evaluations as required
  • Support in document control, effectively uploading changes to design, as-built conditions, etc.
  • Support in the execution of the preconstruction plan related to on-time procurement of materials, logistics coordination, and schedule management
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and clients to ensure all aspects of the work are executed in alignment with schedule and budget, effectively communicating, and escalating project constraints to PM in a timely manner
  • Responsible for weekly schedule update and distributing a detailed production schedule for the coming weeks, “Look Ahead Schedules”, by Friday afternoon the week prior
  • Responsible for day-to-day oversight of assigned jobs, including daily presence to ensure jobs are executed to the highest standard and safely, and recording production via site photos and daily site reports
  • Responsible for managing the project scope and budget meticulously, reporting any deviation from baseline budget and developing supporting change orders with PMs
  • Coordinate and communicate information between office and field operations
  • Execute projects to the highest of horticultural and construction standards by ensuring best practices are followed across all phases of the project
  • Manage and drive the punch-list process through completion, ensuring assigned projects meet company quality standards


REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in landscape construction, project management, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of landscape construction methods, materials, and practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and plans
  • Experience with field measurements, take-offs, project budgets, and scheduling
  • Ability to collaborate with, oversee, and coordinate internal labor and subcontractors
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with designers, project managers, and field personnel
  • High level of ownership and accountability required
  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field preferred, but relevant professional experience will also be considered
