Full job description

A well-established California litigation firm is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney to join its growing team, offering a collaborative and flexible environment handling sophisticated matters, including a strong public entity defense practice. The firm is open to attorneys with 2+ years of civil litigation experience, particularly in Insurance Defense, Employment, or other civil litigation backgrounds.

This position offers remote or hybrid work flexibility, with occasional in-person depositions and court appearances in the Riverside area for attorneys within commuting distance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings
  • Conduct legal research and prepare high-quality written work product
  • Manage written discovery, subpoenas, and document review
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Participate in mediations, settlement discussions, and case strategy meetings
  • Work closely with partners while independently managing an active caseload
  • Represent public entities and other clients in complex civil litigation matters


Qualifications:

  • Active California Bar membership in good standing
  • 2+ years of civil litigation experience
  • Experience in Insurance Defense, Employment Litigation, Public Entity Defense, or other civil litigation practices is preferred
  • Strong legal writing, discovery, motion practice, and deposition experience
  • Ability to independently manage cases while collaborating with a litigation team
  • Trial experience is welcomed but not required


Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position ranges from $130,000–$200,000, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, and other relevant factors. In addition to base compensation, the firm offers a highly competitive performance-based bonus structure that rewards productivity, business development, and long-term client relationships.
