Location: Chicago IL, 60601// New York, NY 10036
Duration: 9+ Month Contract (Possibility of Extension)
Job Description:
Summary
Client's Audience Development plan defines audience development as the curation of fandom — "the intentional system that transforms viewers into advocates." The problem it solves is direct: large audiences with thin fan relationships, fragmented data, fan acquisition that resets every season, and reliance on borrowed platforms.
The 2026 plan answers that with a fan ecosystem built across acquire, engage, retain, and advocate — powered by first-party data, lifecycle customer relationship management, and franchise-specific programs, piloted across four franchises.
This contract role is the measurement layer underneath it. The assignment is split by design: fast, credible answers for Ad Sales, and the analytic foundation the media strategy and planning team needs to prove whether fandom actually moves viewership.
What You'll Do
Ad Sales Research and Insights (primary reporting line)
Deliver audience analyses, competitive positioning, and custom cuts against client and category briefs on sales timelines
Build reusable templates and pull-sheets so recurring requests stop being rebuilt from scratch
Translate audience data into language that lands in a client conversation, not just a research readout
Help us leverage ad intel to build useful tools, data analyses and sales stories for the ad sales pipeline.
Audience development measurement (shared assignment)
Establish the viewership baseline beneath the plan's stated key performance indicators: ratings, share, time spent viewing, average minute audience, net new viewers, viewer migration, and cross-platform duplication¹
Support the two advocacy-stage measures that connect fandom to the business: advertising revenue attribution to owned audience, and viewership correlation with fan tier depth
Contribute the viewership layer of the Audience Development Tracker, the unified dashboard launching in the third and fourth quarters of 2026 alongside the first performance readout to the senior leadership team
Size audience opportunity for pilot franchises and support the franchise prioritization scorecard with defensible evidence
Help connect syndicated viewership data to first-party fan data as the Acxiom and Snowflake identity integration goes live in the second quarter of 2026
Partner on measurement design for fan programs and activations — what gets captured, what it is compared against, and what counts as a real result
Help cultivate a burgeoning agency relationship, supporting additional requests as needed
Required Skills:
4+ years in media research, audience measurement, or media analytics — network, studio, agency, or measurement provider
Hands-on experience with Nielsen NPower (required), and VideoAmp (preferred). Experience with BOTH is ideal.
Fluency with television and streaming audience metrics: ratings, share, time spent viewing, average minute audience, reach, and duplication
Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint skills; ability to build a clean, repeatable deliverable
Proven ability to support sales under deadline pressure without sacrificing accuracy
Comfort stating what the data does and does not support
Responsibilities:
Must have experience with Nielsen nPower and Ad Intel. Experience with ComScore, MRI, Video Amp and iSpot is also desired, but not required.
This role is dedicated toward Insights on audience measurement, in support of the ad sales team. Crafting narratives that connect insights is a big part of their responsibilities, should be able to interpret data and share strategic findings as per the narrative of the data.
Looking for candidates who are able to learn additional tools and other platforms/data sources, as we will want them to eventually engage with other data sources. Should be proactive in their personal learning experience.
Preferred Skills:
Comscore, Global Web Index (GWI), MRI-Simmons, or comparable syndicated and cross-platform sources
Structured Query Language (SQL), Tableau, or Power BI
Experience with Black audiences and multicultural measurement, including segmentation and panel-based research — directly relevant to the Sistas and client’s pilot, where a "Lovers of Black Culture" panel is already active, and Black consumer segmentation is due in the second quarter of 2026
Fandom-driven franchise experience — unscripted, soap opera, or comparable
We are looking for analytic judgment first. Candidates who know the metrics cold and can learn a new platform quickly are encouraged to apply.
How Success Is Measured
Ad Sales receives answers in hours, not days. A viewership baseline exists where none does today. By the first senior leadership readout, the team can state with evidence whether deeper fandom produces more viewing — not just whether the programs launched.
