Building Automation System (BAS) Installer – Syracuse, NY

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Building Automation System (BAS) Installer in the Syracuse, New York market. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working with HVAC controls, troubleshooting systems in the field, and seeing building automation projects come online successfully. The ideal candidate takes pride in clean, professional workmanship and wants to continue developing a career in building automation and HVAC controls.

This role is well suited for candidates with experience in BAS installation, HVAC controls, low-voltage controls, or related building automation systems who are looking for long-term growth within the controls industry.

What You'll Do

  • Install BAS control devices, controllers, sensors, panels, and associated low-voltage wiring on commercial HVAC projects.
  • Read and interpret basic controls wiring drawings, schematics, and field installation documentation.
  • Lay out and route low-voltage wiring and install panels and raceways as required.
  • Properly mount controllers, sensors, actuators, and other end devices.
  • Complete neat, organized, and professional wiring terminations.
  • Perform low-voltage controls wiring below 48 VAC; line-voltage electrical work is excluded from this position.
  • Troubleshoot control wiring, communication networks, device issues, and installation deficiencies.
  • Provide field troubleshooting assistance to BAS Programmers during system startup and commissioning.
  • Work with project teams and third-party commissioning agents to identify and resolve installation issues.
  • Complete assigned work within project schedules and budgeted timeframes while maintaining quality and safety standards.

What You Bring

  • Typically 2+ years of experience in HVAC low-voltage controls, BAS installation, or building automation.
  • Hands-on experience with controls installation, wiring, and panel terminations.
  • Ability to read and understand basic controls drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving control wiring, communication networks, and system functionality.
  • Exposure to Niagara/Tridium platforms is preferred.
  • Familiarity with BACnet or Modbus protocols is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in the field while staying connected with project and technical teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.

Location & Schedule

Based in Syracuse, New York, with field work supporting local commercial projects. This is a full-time position involving hands-on work at project sites.
