POSITION IS M-F CONTRACT TO HIRE ONSITE IN IRVINE CA


Position starts at $22HR. After 90 days it goes up to $25HR + commissions.

We are seeking a Collections Specialist (Payment Specialist) to join our client's team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing cash collections related to institutional and private loans, payment plans, and past-due inactive student accounts. You will also support the Collections Supervisor by coordinating collection efforts with loan servicers and third-party collection agencies while ensuring all collection activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements.


Successful candidates will:

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal regulations, including HEOA Disclosure requirements, Regulation Z, Truth in Lending, and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) guidelines related to collection activities.
  • Contact inactive students with past-due balances through outbound phone calls, email, and written correspondence to secure payments.
  • Consistently meet or exceed assigned monthly collection goals and performance expectations.
  • Complete the required daily and weekly collection activities to achieve account recovery objectives.
  • Perform skip tracing to locate borrowers and update contact information.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and other administrative tasks to support the collections team.
  • Make approximately 100+ outbound and inbound calls per day.
  • Utilize multiple systems and databases to research accounts and document collection efforts.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new Collection Associates as needed.


Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; OR six month to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and positive relationship management skills. Sensitivity to students and families of diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
  • COLLECTIONS EXPERIENCE
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of collection rules and regulations including HEOA regulations, Regulation Z, Truth in Lending Disclosures.
  • Ability to analyze numbers.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel Spreadsheet and Word.
