CNC Machinist – 2nd & 3rd Shift

Location: Farmington, CT – Fully Onsite

Type: Direct Hire

Pay: $25–$30/hour + Excellent Benefits

Available Shifts:

• 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 Midnight
• 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Position Summary

Top Prospect Group is seeking experienced CNC Machinists for direct-hire opportunities with a growing manufacturing operation in Farmington, CT.

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC, EDM, and related machining equipment while producing precision components to blueprint and work-order specifications.

Candidates should have strong machining fundamentals, including CNC setup and operation, feeds and speeds, cutting tools, blueprint reading, machine adjustments, and dimensional inspection.

Experience with EDM, Makino Fast Hole, CMM equipment, or aerospace manufacturing is highly preferred but not required. Candidates with strong CNC machining experience and a desire to learn additional equipment are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC, EDM, and related machining equipment using established programs, fixtures, and machining methods.
• Make program edits, offsets, and machine adjustments as required to produce parts according to blueprints, work orders, specifications, and sketches.
• Apply knowledge of feeds, speeds, cutting tools, and tooling applications.
• Perform in-process and final inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and product quality.
• Troubleshoot machining and production issues and make appropriate adjustments.
• Produce work that meets company requirements for both quality and production output.
• Accurately complete required documentation, including production counts, scrap, labor time, and related paperwork.
• Follow proper machining procedures and good manufacturing practices.
• Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Complete operator maintenance sheets and perform basic equipment upkeep.
• Take a proactive approach to resolving process or equipment-related problems and coordinate with other departments when necessary.
• Train, guide, and assist other employees as needed.
• Comply with all OSHA, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Perform additional duties within the scope and skill level of the position as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• 2+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience strongly preferred.
• Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment required.
• Experience with EDM, Makino Fast Hole, CMM, or aerospace manufacturing is a strong plus.
• Ability to read and work from blueprints, specifications, sketches, and work orders.
• Working knowledge of machining feeds, speeds, cutting tools, and tooling applications.
• Ability to perform dimensional inspections and maintain tight tolerances.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing ERP systems; JobBOSS experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform medium-duty manufacturing work, including:

• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Lifting, pushing, and pulling materials or equipment.
• Reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and balancing.
• Using hands for grasping, fingering, tooling, and repetitive machining tasks.
