Construction Estimator

A well established, nationally operating commercial general contractor along the Central Jersey Shore is adding a Construction Estimator to its preconstruction team. This is a newly created seat on a small, close knit estimating group, building retail, restaurant, self storage, and other commercial projects ranging from smaller interior fit outs to large scale ground up work.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor

• Demonstrated ability to run quantity takeoffs, write scopes of work, and evaluate subcontractor bids

• Strong Excel, Outlook, and Windows skills

• Valid driver's license and flexibility to travel to job sites regularly

• Experience with On Screen Takeoff or similar estimating software preferred

• Prior field or trade experience is a plus, as is a degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including plan and spec review

• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop accurate cost projections

• Write scopes of work and review subcontractor proposals

• Collaborate with the estimating team to align bids with project requirements

• Assist with value engineering and support bid preparation and presentations

• Support cost control efforts throughout the project lifecycle

• Travel to job sites for site visits as needed (estimated 40 to 50% field time)
