Construction Manager – Utility-Scale Renewable Energy
📍 Location: Upstate New York
📅 Contract: 6 months -> direct hire
💰 Per Diem: $178/day 7 days a week
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to serve as an onsite Owner’s Representative supporting major utility-scale renewable energy projects in Upstate New York. This is a hands-on field leadership position overseeing EPC contractors and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality and design requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with utility-scale Solar PV and Civil construction. Experience with BESS and Substation construction is highly preferred. Two projects are available, including a 100 MW solar/substation project and a larger 275 MW renewable energy project requiring stronger substation experience.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the onsite Owner’s Representative throughout construction.
- Oversee EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field activities.
- Manage project schedule, scope, budget, milestones, and construction progress.
- Oversee Solar PV, civil, BESS, and substation/HV construction.
- Monitor and enforce safety, QA/QC, and construction standards.
- Conduct site walks and address risks, delays, quality issues, and schedule concerns.
- Review change orders, invoices, progress reports, and project deliverables.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, inspectors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Support commissioning, punch list management, and project closeout.
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly project meetings and reporting.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of onsite utility-scale PV, BESS, substation, or related construction management experience.
- Strong utility-scale Solar + Civil construction background.
- BESS and/or Substation experience strongly preferred.
- OSHA 30 required.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, standards, regulations, and QA/QC.
- Procore experience preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and contractor management skills.
- Ability to work onsite 5 days per week and travel as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
