Director of Finance And Accounting

CooperDouglas Executive Search has partnered with a growing California construction company to find a Director of Finance. This leader will own the full financial function across a multi-project portfolio — overseeing accounting, project finance, and reporting while partnering with executive leadership to drive strategic growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close
• Manage project budgets, job costing, commitments, change orders, and cost forecasting
• Track project financial performance and drive corrective action on variances
• Oversee subcontractor billings, pay applications, retainage, and compliance
• Coordinate construction loan draws and project cash flow
• Deliver monthly profitability reporting and WIP analysis to leadership
• Strengthen financial systems, controls, and reporting processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or CPA candidate highly preferred
• 10+ years of accounting/finance experience with significant construction exposure
• Candidates with construction, home building or Affordable housing will be fast tracked.
• 5+ years in a Controller, Director of Finance, or equivalent leadership role
• Advanced proficiency in construction project management and ERP/accounting systems
• Strong command of job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and project controls
• Multi-project financial management experience

$180,000–$210,000 + bonus
