Comp: $180-$225k, 30-40% bonus + equity


Finatal is partnered exclusively with a construction services business generating $100m in revenue, backed by a leading PE firm seeking a Director of Finance.


The Director of Finance serves as the senior financial leader responsible for the financial strategy, reporting, controls, cash management, and operational finance functions of the business. This role goes beyond traditional accounting leadership by serving as a strategic business partner to Operations, Preconstruction, and Executive Leadership, helping drive profitability, improve project performance visibility, and support scalable growth.


The Director of Finance will oversee accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, project financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, banking relationships, bonding capacity, and financial reporting. This leader will also play a key role in strengthening financial processes, improving project cost visibility, enhancing forecasting accuracy, and supporting the holding company with financial reporting and business planning.


The ideal candidate combines strong construction finance expertise with business acumen, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to operational partnership.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Leadership & Strategy

· Serve as the senior financial advisor to the General Manager and leadership team.

· Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management processes.

· Provide actionable insights and recommendations that support growth, profitability, and operational decision-making.

· Partner with Operations and Preconstruction leadership to improve project performance, forecasting accuracy, and margin management.

· Support strategic planning, acquisitions, integrations, and other corporate initiatives.


Construction Finance & Project Controls

· Oversee project financial performance, including job costing, forecasting, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, backlog analysis, and profitability reporting.

· Ensure operational leaders have timely, accurate financial information to manage project performance.

· Develop financial reporting and KPIs that improve visibility into labor productivity, project risk, cash flow, and margin performance.

· Support continuous improvement of project controls and financial management processes.


Accounting, Cash Management & Compliance

· Provide oversight of all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax compliance, and financial reporting.

· Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, month-end close, audits, and regulatory filings.

· Manage cash flow, working capital, banking relationships, bonding capacity, and insurance-related financial requirements.

· Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with financial, contractual, and regulatory requirements.


Administration & Shared Services Leadership

· Lead and continuously improve the company's administrative and business support functions.

· Oversee contract administration, project documentation controls, benefits administration, and other shared service activities.

· Ensure administrative processes support efficient project delivery and business operations.

· Standardize policies, procedures, and workflows that improve organizational effectiveness and scalability.


Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

· Lead implementation and optimization of financial systems, reporting tools, and business processes.

· Develop dashboards and performance metrics that support accountability and informed decision-making.

· Drive automation, standardization, and operational efficiency initiatives across finance and administration functions.

· Support data-driven decision making throughout the organization.


Leadership & Organizational Development

· Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Finance & Administration organization.

· Establish clear expectations, accountability measures, and development plans for team members.

· Foster strong collaboration between Finance, Operations, Preconstruction, Safety, and Shared Services.

· Develop scalable organizational structures and processes that support future growth.


Qualifications Required

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.

· 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.

· 5+ years of leadership experience overseeing accounting and finance functions.

· Strong understanding of construction accounting and project financial management.

· Experience with:

  • WIP reporting
  • Percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Job costing
  • Project forecasting
  • Construction cash flow management
  • Experience managing banking, bonding, and insurance relationships.
  • Strong financial analysis and business partnership skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting and financial reporting systems.
