Full job description

Director of Hospitality (private residences)

A prominent single-family office is seeking a highly detailed, service-driven Director of Hospitality to establish 5-star standards across private residences globally. Operating out of the firm's office and NYC residence, this role will elevate and standardize residential service, guest experiences, and household operations across properties to match the caliber of a top luxury hotel.

Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000+ per year (commensurate with background) + discretionary bonus + Full premium health/dental coverage, paid time off, and comprehensive travel expense coverage.

-West Village, Manhattan (NYC primary base) with domestic and international travel to family properties. There will be 3-4 trips per year to each property.

-Hybrid structure (4 days in-office/onsite per week, with periodic visits to the NYC residence).

-Requires a 24/7 responsiveness mindset for urgent matters and flexibility for weekend/evening events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Establish, document, and maintain uniform 5-star service protocols across all properties—covering fine dining service, linen care, guest room preparation, pantry inventory, and floral arrangements.
  • Create standardized operational handbooks, preference tracking systems, and daily checklists to ensure consistent presentation across all estates regardless of location.
  • Tailor the service rhythm of each residence to accommodate regional nuances, seasonal changes, and shifting family itineraries.
  • Lead the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of domestic staff across properties (housekeepers, estate managers, private chefs, drivers, and external vendors).
  • Establish staff rotations and operational routines, addressing performance feedback directly and proactively.
  • Oversee end-to-end execution for family arrivals, long-term stays, high-profile houseguests, and private events.
  • Collaborate closely with Personal Assistants and Property Managers to guarantee every estate is fully prepared, stocked, and staffed ahead of family arrival.
  • Track individual family and guest preferences to anticipate needs seamlessly prior to request.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERTISE

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership within luxury hospitality environments (5-star luxury hotels, private mega-yachts, high-end private clubs, Michelin-caliber dining, or prominent private estates).
  • Demonstrated track record of recruiting, training, and inspiring domestic or hospitality teams to maintain flawless service levels.
  • Suited for a mid-level professional with an ambitious, high-energy drive—or an exceptionally sharp junior candidate ready to scale their scope.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and Passport with full flexibility for domestic and international travel. Verifiable reference history required.
  • A hands-on operational leader who leads by example rather than directing from a distance; willing to roll up their sleeves to assist in all execution details.
  • An exceptional eye for detail, atmosphere, spatial presentation, and subtle service gaps that require immediate correction.
  • Warm, solution-oriented demeanor with a strong composure when adapting to changing schedules, guest demands, or event logistics.
  • Exceptional judgment and unwavering confidentiality regarding family affairs, high-profile guests, and private office operations.
