πŸ’Ό Electrical Engineer

πŸ“ Norwalk, CT

πŸ’° $110,000 - $130,000 + Profit Sharing

Do you like being hands-on with machines as much as you like being at the drawing board?

I'm working with an established manufacturer of automated packaging machinery, in business for decades and recognized as a top employer, whose equipment runs in facilities for some of the world's largest consumer goods companies.

They're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a lean, senior engineering team.

This role has opened up due to a recent retirement. It's an individual contributor role to start, with genuine room to grow into more senior responsibility as the team builds out and a culture that values engineers willing to wear multiple hats rather than stay in a lane.

What You'll Do:

  • Developing wiring schematics and panel layouts in AutoCAD to meet customer specifications
  • Programming and configuring PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and servo systems across automated machinery
  • Reviewing customer specifications to determine project requirements and support proposal creation
  • Commissioning new systems, including testing and debugging equipment on the assembly floor alongside technicians
  • Troubleshooting equipment internally and in the field, with occasional travel for installation or support
  • Ensuring full functionality of integrated devices β€” printers, vision systems, code readers, and other third-party equipment
  • Evaluating new approaches to improve efficiency and cost on control systems and internal processes
  • Working within project budgets while collaborating cross-functionally with the wider engineering team

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience producing electrical schematics in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical is a strong plus)
  • Solid knowledge of electrical code compliance; UL 508A, NFPA, and NEC for industrial control panels
  • Genuine hands-on ability: comfortable wiring, testing, and debugging panels and integrated machinery yourself
  • Some exposure to PLC programming is helpful; candidates from a computer science or programming background are also well positioned to grow into this
  • Comfortable multitasking and shifting priorities independently in a fast-paced environment
  • A clear, proactive communicator who works well with both engineers and technicians on the floor
  • Someone who wants to build toward more senior scope over time, not just fill a seat
