Senior Employee Benefits & ERISA Attorney ($170,000–$200,000/year)
Location: Roseland, NJ — Hybrid
Experience: 5–10 years
Mandatory Requirements to Apply
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active New Jersey Bar admission and good standing.
- 5+ years of legal experience with significant ERISA, employee benefits, or retirement plan experience.
- Experience advising clients independently and managing matters.
- Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Client-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Advise employers, plan sponsors, and fiduciaries on ERISA compliance, fiduciary duties, and tax requirements.
- Design, draft, amend, and terminate retirement plans, including 401(k), profit sharing, defined benefit, cash balance, and ESOP plans.
- Handle Form 5500 filings, IRS/DOL matters, audits, and correction programs such as VCP, DFVC, and VFCP.
- Advise on health and welfare plans, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, executive compensation, and Section 409A.
- Support employee benefits issues in M&A transactions, while managing client relationships and mentoring junior attorneys.
Bonus Qualifications
- LL.M. in Taxation or Employee Benefits.
- New York Bar admission or willingness to obtain.
- Experience with IRS/DOL correction programs.
- M&A employee benefits and executive compensation experience.
- Existing client relationships or a portable book of business.
Salary & Benefits
- $170,000–$200,000/year
