M‑J.T.J. Contractors, Inc. is a family-owned commercial and industrial concrete contractor that has served the Chicagoland area for more than 50 years. Our work includes concrete foundations, slab-on-ground and slab-on-deck construction, concrete paving and parking lots, sidewalks, curbs, loading docks, and specialty flatwork.

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager who understands the demands of commercial concrete construction and can successfully manage projects from preconstruction through final completion.


Position Summary

The Project Manager will oversee multiple commercial and industrial concrete projects while coordinating with general contractors, owners, field personnel, vendors, and company leadership. This individual must be organized, responsive, financially aware, and capable of managing changing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.

The ideal candidate has strong concrete construction knowledge, communicates confidently with both field and office teams, and takes ownership of project schedules, documentation, costs, and overall performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial and industrial concrete projects from award through closeout
  • Read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil blueprints, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and project requirements
  • Use Bluebeam to review, mark up, measure, and manage project drawings and documents
  • Use PlanGrid to access drawings, document field conditions, track project information, and collaborate with project teams
  • Coordinate project startup, scheduling, manpower needs, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Maintain regular communication with general contractors, superintendents, foremen, vendors, and internal staff
  • Prepare, review, submit, and track RFCs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation
  • Identify scope changes and ensure extra work is properly documented, priced, submitted, and approved
  • Develop and maintain project schedules while monitoring upcoming deadlines and potential delays
  • Track project costs, labor, materials, quantities, production, and profitability
  • Review field reports and compare actual progress and costs against the project budget
  • Attend project meetings and communicate important information to field and office personnel
  • Coordinate concrete pours and other major project activities with field leadership
  • Assist with project billing, cost projections, and financial reporting
  • Address project issues promptly and help develop practical solutions
  • Maintain organized and accurate project records
  • Support project closeout, including punch-list items and required documentation
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, vendors, and project partners

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of [5] years of construction project management experience
  • Experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil blueprints
  • Experience using Bluebeam for drawing review, markups, measurements, and project documentation
  • Experience using PlanGrid to manage drawings and project information
  • Experience preparing and managing RFCs, submittals, change orders, schedules, budgets, and cost reports
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active projects and competing deadlines
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable communicating with general contractors, field employees, vendors, and company leadership
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the Chicagoland area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience managing commercial or industrial concrete projects
  • Working knowledge of concrete foundations, slabs, paving, curbs, sidewalks, loading docks, and related scopes
  • Experience using Foundation Software for project management, job-cost tracking, or financial reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent industry experience will also be considered

Schedule and Work Location

This is a full-time position based out of our Streamwood, Illinois office. Regular travel to project sites throughout the Chicagoland area is required. This is not a fully remote position.
