Fund Accounting Director (Private Equity Credit)

Our client, a leading private equity fund administrator, is seeking a Fund Accounting Director to join their growing team supporting private equity credit funds. This role offers deep exposure to the full fund lifecycle across mezzanine, credit, and loan origination structures, with direct ownership of complex waterfall, capital call, and distribution calculations.
What You'll Do
- Direct day-to-day fund accounting and administration for multiple investment sponsors
- Prepare and review workpapers, investment schedules, accruals, financial statements with footnotes, and investor allocations
- Build and review complex waterfall models, capital calls, and distributions
- Serve as primary point of contact for clients at the executive level, along with auditors, legal counsel, and banking partners
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of staff accountants across multiple levels
- Oversee setup of client fund deliverables and perform in-depth review and sign-off prior to Managing Director review
- Manage ad hoc special projects as needed
What We're Looking For
- 7-20 years of fund accounting experience, with a focus on private equity credit structures
- 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity
- Direct experience building and reviewing waterfall calculations
- Experience with PIK/OID amortization calculations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- Strong working knowledge of partnership agreements and fund legal documents
- Advanced knowledge of US GAAP reporting for investment funds and investors
- Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships at the executive level and independently sign off on financials, waterfalls, and capital events
Preferred
- Mezzanine, credit, or loan origination investment experience
- Prior experience at a private equity fund administrator or directly within a PE fund

This role sits within a large, tech-enabled private equity fund services platform in New York, NY, with an in-office expectation of 3 days per week.
