Hazmat Onsite Technician $35/hr (Onsite)
Position Type: Contract
Compensation: $35/hr

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Hazmat Onsite Technician to support environmental health and safety operations across client facilities. This role is responsible for the safe handling, identification, packaging, and preparation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for transport, ensuring full compliance with EPA standards, RCRA regulations, and DOT hazardous materials requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in waste handling and characterization with meticulous attention to regulatory documentation, site safety, and emergency response procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled hazardous and non-hazardous waste pickups across multiple client facilities, adhering to RCRA and DOT transport regulations.
- Perform chemical bulking, consolidation, and lab packing while ensuring proper chemical compatibility and segregation.
- Package, label, and mark containers for shipment in compliance with EPA, DOT, and site-specific standards.
- Inspect drums, containers, and other storage units to ensure structural integrity and regulatory compliance, identifying any potential hazards.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of hazardous materials, safely operating forklifts and other industrial equipment.
- Collect, document, and manage waste stream sampling, profiling, and inventory tracking for accurate reporting.
- Support spill response activities, including hazard recognition, containment, and mitigation following established safety protocols.
- Maintain thorough inspection reports, compliance records, and administrative documentation, coordinating closely with client site teams to ensure smooth operations.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance standards including EPA, RCRA, and DOT hazardous materials regulations.
- Experience in waste profiling, characterization, and technical handling operations, including lab packing, chemical bulking, and container management.
- Proficient in manifesting, shipping documentation, and regulatory labeling requirements.
- Ability to identify hazards and implement site safety procedures, PPE utilization, and participate in emergency response.
- Skilled in inventory tracking, inspection reporting, and compliance recordkeeping, ensuring accurate administrative support.
- Safe operation of forklifts and other material handling equipment in a regulated environment.
