Project Manager, Healthcare Construction (OSHPD / HCAI)
Location: Glendora or OC/Irvine, CA | Coverage Area: LA/Inland Empire / Moreno Valley
Compensation: Open, commensurate with experience
150-200k pay.
About the Role
A well-established general contractor with a strong presence in the California healthcare construction market is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead OSHPD/HCAI projects across Southern California. This is a direct hire opportunity with a firm that has deep roots in hospital and acute care construction and a solid pipeline of active and upcoming work. The ideal candidate brings focused healthcare GC experience, understands the regulatory complexity of OSHPD-1 projects, and has the tenure and track record to manage large, complex hospital construction programs with confidence.
Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of project management on OSHPD/HCAI acute care projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Manage project budgets ranging from $10M to $50M and above, maintaining cost control and financial reporting
- Oversee project schedules, subcontractor coordination, and owner communications throughout construction
- Interface directly with OSHPD/HCAI inspectors, DSA representatives, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance at every phase
- Manage RFI, submittal, and change order processes with attention to detail and responsiveness
- Lead project meetings with owners, design teams, and subcontractors and maintain clear documentation
- Coordinate closely with field superintendents to align schedule execution with project milestones
- Mentor and develop junior project engineers and assistant project managers on the team
- Support preconstruction efforts including scope review, subcontractor bidding, and buyout
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience as a Project Manager on OSHPD/HCAI acute care projects with a California licensed general contractor
- Demonstrated experience managing OSHPD-1 hospital and acute care projects, not limited to MOB or clinic work
- Strong working knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI regulatory requirements, inspection protocols, and closeout procedures
- Proven ability to manage projects in the $10M to $50M range and above from start to finish
- Experience with subcontractor management, budget tracking, schedule management, and owner reporting
- Proficiency in Procore, Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
