A large, mission-driven higher education organization is seeking an experienced HR Director to provide leadership and day-to-day HR support during a major enterprise transformation initiative. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on HR leader who thrives in complex environments, enjoys solving employee relations challenges, and can effectively partner with leaders across all levels of an organization.
This engagement is expected to last 1+ year and will play a critical role in supporting the organization while key HR leaders focus on a large-scale Workday implementation.
What You'll Be Doing
- Serve as a senior HR Business Partner supporting leaders and employees across assigned client groups
- Lead and manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, documentation, policy interpretation, and partnership with legal counsel
- Own the ADA accommodation process from start to finish, including interactive discussions, documentation, and compliance guidance
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on performance management, employee development, workforce planning, reorganizations, and corrective action plans
- Support organizational change management initiatives related to ongoing HR technology transformation efforts
- Handle day-to-day HR operations and escalated employee concerns to ensure continuity of service
- Assist with talent acquisition activities as needed, including interview coordination and offer support
- Partner closely with HR leadership on special projects and strategic initiatives
- Navigate and improve processes across a highly manual HR environment while maintaining exceptional customer service
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including experience at the HR Director or Senior HRBP level
- Deep employee relations expertise with demonstrated experience handling sensitive and complex cases
- Strong ADA, reasonable accommodations, and compliance experience with the ability to independently manage the entire process
- Experience partnering with leaders across multiple levels of an organization
- Proven experience with performance management, PIPs, workforce planning, and organizational change
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable working in evolving environments
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to navigate multiple HR systems and manual processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience within higher education, colleges, universities, or other academic institutions strongly preferred
- HR Business Partner experience supporting diverse employee populations
- Experience working in organizations undergoing HRIS or Workday implementations
- Familiarity with systems such as Lawson, PeopleAdmin, or similar HR platforms
The salary range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00 hr. Benefits available to contract professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
