Title: Senior Refrigeration Applications Engineer

Location: Remote (Chino, CA HQ Optional)

Compensation: $120,000 - $170,000 Base + Bonuses

Benefits:

• Bonuses: Quarterly + Annual (5-10% target)
• PE Bonus available
• Work Environment: Fully Remote or Onsite Optional
• Travel is minimal (1x/month max); most engineers manage projects independently from home

Tiello is partnering with a highly respected Mechanical Contractor on their search for a Senior Refrigeration Applications Engineer to support national projects across cold storage, grocery, and industrial refrigeration environments.

This is a high-impact role for an experienced engineer who has designed CO₂ systems, understands complex system integration, and is looking to join a people-first company that values autonomy, technical depth, and sustainable growth. This is not a general HVAC or mechanical engineering role - we’re looking for a specialist who understands cold storage, supermarket systems, and complex rack configurations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and specify industrial refrigeration systems including CO₂, glycol-based, and low-temp cascade systems
• Engineer EMS/PLC control system integration, focused on performance, safety, and code compliance
• Collaborate with clients, internal departments, vendors, and field teams throughout the full project lifecycle
• Develop layouts, load calculations, submittals, and redlines for active projects
• Provide technical guidance and limited field support during construction and commissioning
• Mentor junior engineers and manage multiple projects at a time

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• 7-10+ years of experience in industrial/commercial refrigeration (cold storage, grocery, food processing)
• Proven experience with CO₂ system design and integrated rack systems
• Familiar with EMS controls, PLCs, and sequence-of-operation documentation
• Understanding of ASHRAE, IIAR, and local code standards
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage clients and internal teams
• PE License preferred, not required (eligible for additional bonus if held)
