  • Reconcile cash receipts and contributions
  • Maintain and update budget-to-actual analysis templates
  • Coordinate with Payroll and AP to compile required financial data
  • Prepare sub-contractor agreements and process monthly invoices
  • Monitor aged receivables and follow up as needed
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining audit-ready documentation
  • Assist departments with budget development for grant proposals and renewals
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from funders, internal teams, and external partners

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; Associate's degree or equivalent with 1–2 years of relevant experience considered
  • 1–2 years of accounting or billing experience — nonprofit experience a strong plus; international experience accepted
  • Basic accounting knowledge and ability to interpret general ledger data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with city and state agency funding processes (DEP, DOE, DOH, HRA, OASAS, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with Yardi or similar financial systems a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams

Environment A large, mission-driven nonprofit headquartered in Bushwick with 500+ employees and over 50 years of community impact across housing, health, home care, and social services. The finance team operates across a complex, multi-funder environment with significant grant activity and direct agency relationships. Strong fit for an early-career accountant who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and motivated by meaningful work.
