Licensed Customs Broker - Freight Forwarder (36448)

A global freight forwarding company is currently seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to support their office in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago area. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ work experience as a Customs Broker and in logistics field, and a positive, team-oriented mindset. This is a full-time, direct hire position.

Customs Broker Job Responsibilities

• Prepare customs entries for air and ocean shipments and follow up on the clearance process.
• File ISF and ensure timely follow-up with related parties.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. government regulations, including CBP, FDA, EPA, DOT, FCC, USDA, and FWS.
• Review BOLs, commercial invoices, and other shipping documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Classify goods correctly according to U.S. tariff regulations and company SOPs.
• Communicate with internal and external parties regarding customs holds, exams, and other issues.
• Provide backup support to team members as needed.
• Assist with creating and updating client SOPs.
• Prioritize tasks and complete work accurately and on time.
• Work closely with the Brokerage team and other departments to provide excellent customer service.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Customs Broker Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Valid U.S. Customs Broker License in good standing required.
• CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) certification through NCBFAA is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in Customs Brokerage required.
• Freight forwarding experience is a plus.
• Experience with Japanese company is a huge plus
• Good knowledge of HTS, 19 CFR, and PGA requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Cargowise experience is a plus.
