A manufacturing company is hiring a Mechanical Drafter to support their hardware development team. Located on-site, this contract role involves creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models for mechanical components used in robotic systems. Candidates should have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in a similar role and proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Onshape.
Mechanical Drafter Responsibilities:
- Develop precise 2D drawings and 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies for robotic systems.
- Convert engineering concepts and sketches into formal manufacturing documentation.
- Ensure drawings comply with industry standards such as ASME Y14 or ISO and include tolerances, fits, and surface finishes.
- Collaborate closely with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and accuracy.
- Maintain detailed records of revisions and engineering change orders for all drawings.
Mechanical Drafter Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience as a mechanical drafter or in a similar manufacturing role.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software, with Onshape experience preferred.
- Solid understanding of GD&T principles and application.
- Knowledge of mechanical tolerancing, fits, and surface finish specifications.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and 3D printing, as well as standards like ASME Y14 and ISO.
