Position Title: Nursing Academic

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Nursing Academic Adviser serves as a key resource for nursing students by providing academic, professional, and personal guidance throughout their educational journey. The adviser supports students in achieving academic success, meeting progression requirements, and developing as competent, compassionate nursing professionals. This position requires a Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong interest in education, student development, and working within a diverse academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide academic advisement to nursing students regarding course sequencing, registration, and program requirements.
• Monitor student performance and academic progression, identifying those who may need additional support.
• Develop and implement individualized success plans for students experiencing academic or clinical challenges.
• Advise students on academic policies, procedures, and available campus resources.
• Coach and mentor students to promote professionalism, self-confidence, and effective study habits.
• Collaborate with faculty and clinical coordinators to support student success and retention initiatives.
• Participate in orientation sessions, workshops, and student success activities.
• Maintain accurate, confidential advising records and documentation.
• Support an inclusive environment that respects and values diversity among students, faculty, and staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Licensure: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience.
• Additional Requirements:
• Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated interest in working within an academic or student-centered environment.
• Commitment to supporting and engaging with a diverse student and staff population.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in nursing education, academic advising, or student success programs.
• Familiarity with student information systems and educational technologies.
