Onward Education is hiring a School Occupational Therapist (OT) for an on-site assignment supporting two middle school campuses in Cook County, IL.
Assignment Details:
Start Date: August 24, 2026
Setting: On-site at 2 middle school locations
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM–3:15 PM
Team: Join a collaborative team of 8 Occupational Therapists
Position Summary
The School Occupational Therapist supports students’ access to learning by addressing functional, fine motor, sensory processing, and school-participation needs. The OT works as a collaborative member of building-level teams and provides services aligned with students’ IEPs and/or 504 Plans, including consultation, direct service, and school-based supports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve on middle school building-level teams to support student success in the educational environment
- Conduct initial evaluations and re-evaluations to help determine special education eligibility
- Provide IEP-related OT services and contribute to goal development, service planning, and progress monitoring
- Support MTSS through targeted interventions and consultation
- Consult with staff and families to promote generalization of skills across school routines and environments
- Recommend and support accommodations, adaptations, and assistive tools as appropriate (e.g., classroom supports, fine-motor tools, sensory strategies)
- Document services and maintain compliant records in collaboration with the team
Required Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Occupational Therapist license (IL OT)
- Ability to work on-site and collaborate across two campuses
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
- School-based experience and knowledge of IEP/MTSS systems preferred
