Purchasing Team Lead

We currently have an open opportunity for a Lead Buyer/ Purchasing Team Lead/Assistant Manager at our facility located in Kankakee, IL. Seeking a dynamic purchasing leader who is looking to be challenged and to offer a strategic voice to the leadership team.

Responsibilities:

• Identify, develop, and implement sourcing strategies to reduce total delivered cost, mitigate headwinds, and improve security of supply.
• Develop relationships and leverage market intelligence and digital tools to influence internal and external stakeholders, and optimize the lowest Total Delivered Cost (TDC)
• Create and implement best practice procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
• Ensure that purchasing strategies and processes are in place to deliver optimized costs while meeting business objectives and operational needs.
• Maintain a close working relationship with supply chain leaders, operations business leaders, and engineering leadership to support their strategic growth objectives and identify and implement cost-savings and efficiency opportunities for gross margin improvement.
• Day to day planning and execution of MRP needs of assigned categories of spend.
• Support purchase order authorization process through SAP electronic approval process.
• Develop a hands-on knowledge of all workflows to be a support resource within these functions to all stakeholders and purchasing team members.
• Resolve supplier issues as required.
• Prepare Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), and Vendor Price Sheets (VPS) as required.
• Support development of negotiation strategies,and participates in negotiations as assigned.
• Develop and participate in cost reduction initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production, quality, and finance teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: On-site - 100%

• Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a purchasing role of progressive responsibility in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of the principles, methods and procedures employed in the acquisition of material, supplies, finished goods, equipment and services
• SAP (MRP) Experience
• Supplier Management
• Proficient with use of various software applications such as MS Word, Excel, Google Sheets, SAP
• Six Sigma (Yellow/Green Belt) or Lean Mfg. experience preferred
• Formal Negotiations training preferred
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and bringing a continuous improvement mindset to purchasing and supplier processes.
• Have a proven track record of strong leadership, business acumen, influencing skills, and an outstanding ability to drive results.

This role offers a salary between 80K-90K/year with medical, dental, vision, 401K and paid time off.
