Quality Technician – Manufacturing
Location: Fremont & Foster City, CA
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Pay Rate: $53.33/hour
Contract: 6–12 months
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on advanced electro-mechanical systems and autonomous vehicle technology.
This role will support quality inspection, equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, tooling, and asset reliability across multiple manufacturing sites. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on quality experience in a serialized production environment and is comfortable working with complex equipment, production tools, and cross-functional teams.
The candidate will be required to commute between Fremont and Foster City sites as needed.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, calibration, inspection, and repair of production equipment and tools.
- Manage equipment and tool intake, documentation, tracking, calibration status, and maintenance records.
- Coordinate with internal technicians and external/OEM vendors to schedule maintenance and calibration activities.
- Manage production-line tools, including inspections, functional checks, torque verification, calibration, and repair coordination.
- Identify and quarantine damaged, overdue, or out-of-tolerance tools and maintain accurate system records.
- Monitor equipment reliability and compliance metrics and support corrective actions for equipment failures and out-of-tolerance conditions.
- Perform Incoming, In-Process, and Outgoing Quality Inspections (IQC/IPQC/OQC).
- Inspect components, subassemblies, and final assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Document inspection results and escalate nonconformances appropriately.
- Support containment activities, quality alerts, root cause investigations, and CAPA.
- Assist with MRB disposition activities and quality issue resolution.
- Prepare and submit PSW/PPAP documentation as required.
- Support quality audits and process reviews by gathering inspection data and preparing documentation.
- Work closely with Quality Engineers, Manufacturing, Engineering, Equipment Owners, and vendors to resolve quality and equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate quality and equipment records using SAP/ERP systems.
- Travel between Fremont and Foster City sister sites as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6+ years of progressive quality assurance/quality technician experience in a fully or semi-automated serialized production environment.
- Experience with complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Experience in industries such as automotive, aerospace, medical devices, robotics, or advanced manufacturing preferred.
- Hands-on experience with IQC, IPQC, OQC, nonconformance, containment, CAPA, and root cause analysis.
- Experience with equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, tooling, or asset reliability.
- Proficiency with SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of quality control tools and inspection processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work onsite and commute between Fremont and Foster City, CA.
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
- Experience inspecting LiDAR, cameras, sensors, compute hardware, or similar technology.
- Experience with sensor or electro-mechanical assembly.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or ISO 13485.
- Experience with PPAP/PSW and MRB processes.
- Experience working with calibration vendors or OEM equipment providers.
- Automotive, robotics, autonomous vehicle, or medical device manufacturing experience.
