The State Group is seeking a Safety Supervisor based in Buffalo, New York.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Set the standard and example for safe behaviors and compliance and influence others to do the same.
- Communicate and provide subject matter expert support to other stakeholders on job sites, including customers, general and other contractors, union representatives, and regulatory personnel.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all inspections and incident investigations, including collaborating with the Risk Manager for workers’ compensation and other claims.
- Maintain a summary of all audits, inspections, and other action items; and ensure their timely and sustainable completion.
- Ensure compliance with all State Group, governmental, and legal requirements (including OSHA, EPA, ISO). Lead urgent response to workers’ safety concerns.
- Communicate any potential or non-compliant issues to the leadership team promptly.
- Stop unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately, and promptly counsel individuals or tag out equipment to eliminate unsafe conditions.
- Additional duties as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM
- 5+ years of construction safety experience with a strong understanding of applicable safety regulations and policies.
- A degree in Safety or a related field and a CSP certification are preferred.
- Experience in construction or union environments with fluctuating project volumes is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Card.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, confined space activities, hot work, excavations, and other key safety protocols.
- Ability to demonstrate the organization's core values through professional conduct and leadership.
- Ability to effectively train and communicate safety requirements and protocols.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and periodic drug tests.
