Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager – Night Shift

Location: Tracy, California

Compensation: $60 hourly

Per Diem: $1,600 per week

Schedule: Night shift, approximately 50–60 hours per week

Position Overview

SAVI EHS is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to provide night-shift safety leadership on a commercial construction project in Tracy, California. This individual will work alongside a nationally leading general contractor to oversee site-safety activities, promote a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and project-specific requirements.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant construction-safety experience, strong field leadership capabilities, and the ability to work effectively with project management, supervision, employees, and trade partners during nighttime operations.

Compensation

• $60 per hour
• Overtime compensation in accordance with applicable California requirements
• $1,600 weekly per diem
• Night shift consisting of approximately 50–60 hours per week

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide night-shift EHS leadership and oversight for project activities
• Monitor compliance with Cal/OSHA, federal OSHA, client, and site-specific safety requirements
• Conduct site inspections, observations, and audits to identify hazards and corrective actions
• Lead safety meetings, orientations, toolbox talks, and other required training
• Work closely with project leadership, field supervision, and trade partners to strengthen safety performance
• Review job hazard analyses, pre-task plans, and other safety documentation
• Verify that employees and subcontractors follow established safe-work practices
• Evaluate lighting, visibility, access, fatigue, and other risks associated with nighttime construction
• Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and property-damage events
• Prepare clear and timely investigation reports and corrective-action recommendations
• Track safety observations, leading indicators, training records, and required documentation
• Assist with emergency planning and response activities
• Exercise appropriate stop-work authority when an imminent hazard or serious safety concern is identified
• Maintain a visible field presence and address safety concerns professionally and promptly

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of relevant construction EHS or safety-management experience
• Current OSHA 500 certification
• Ability and willingness to work a consistent night-shift schedule
• Strong working knowledge of construction-safety regulations and industry best practices
• Experience managing safety responsibilities on active commercial construction projects
• Ability to communicate effectively with project executives, field leadership, craft employees, and subcontractors
• Strong organizational, documentation, and incident-investigation skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common safety-reporting platforms
• Ability to work approximately 50–60 hours per week on site in Tracy, California

Preferred Qualifications

• BCSP credential, such as CHST, ASP, or CSP
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction management, or a related field
• Experience working with a major general contractor
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
• Additional competent-person or train-the-trainer credentials
• Previous experience overseeing nighttime construction operations

Work Environment

This is a field-based, night-shift position supporting an active commercial construction project. The EHS Manager must be comfortable walking active work areas, climbing stairs or ladders, working outdoors in varying conditions, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
