We are seeking an experienced Security Director to oversee security operations and provide leadership for a professional security team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a safe, secure environment while establishing clear standards, improving day-to-day procedures, and ensuring the team is prepared to respond effectively to incidents.
The Security Director will serve as a key point of contact between property leadership and the security team. This role requires a visible, hands-on leader who can manage personnel, conduct investigations, evaluate risk, respond to incidents, and ensure consistent execution of security procedures across all shifts.
What You'll Own
- Direct the property's security operation and provide clear expectations and priorities to the security team.
- Serve as a liaison between property leadership and security personnel, ensuring important information and directives are communicated effectively.
- Establish consistency between shifts by maintaining organized handoffs, detailed reporting, and clear communication.
- Supervise daily security activity, including patrols, dispatch, incident response, activity logs, and shift reports.
- Review security documentation and identify trends, recurring issues, or areas requiring additional attention.
- Lead investigations involving security incidents, policy violations, safety concerns, and other matters affecting the property.
- Maintain a highly visible security presence throughout the community and ensure key areas receive regular patrol coverage.
- Oversee patrols of entrances, common areas, parking facilities, package rooms, property perimeters, resident-access areas, and other designated locations.
- Train, coach, and develop security personnel to ensure they understand their responsibilities and consistently meet performance expectations.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and corrective guidance when necessary.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5+ years of relevant security, law enforcement, property security, or security management experience.
- Valid New York State Security Guard License required.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Strong understanding of applicable laws, criminal procedures, and the local law enforcement environment.
- Experience overseeing security personnel and managing operations across multiple shifts.
- Background in investigations, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, business continuity, or loss prevention.
- Ability to quickly evaluate a situation, identify potential risks, and determine an appropriate response.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and hold security personnel accountable.
