Overview
Addison Group is partnered with a privately owned company on the search for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team in Oakbrook Terrace, IL. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, working closely with leadership, and contributing to the financial health and operational success of a growing organization.
The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing month-end close activities, preparing financial reports, and supporting management with meaningful financial analysis.
What You’ll Do
- Manage general ledger accounting activities, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and intercompany transactions as part of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and maintain account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare audit schedules and support documentation and assist with internal and external audit requests.
- Prepare monthly account analyses and support schedules for financial reporting.
- Support working capital management through accurate accounting and timely reconciliation of cash, receivables, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for fixed asset accounting, ensuring compliance with company policies and U.S. GAAP
- Acts as the primary owner for assigned accounting processes and balance sheet accounts, exercising independent judgment to identify issues, resolve discrepancies, and implement process improvements
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a privately held or services-oriented organization.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.
- Experience with month-end close and general ledget accounting.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with accounting/ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently.
- Clear, professional communication skills.
- A hands-on, proactive approach and willingness to take ownership.
- Ability to travel, if needed for business purposes (>10%)
- CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus, but not required.
Salary, Benefits, and Perks
- Salary: $100-110,000/year
