Our client is a well-established company in the Agriculture industry who is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance and accounting team. About the Role
The Senior Accountant will play an integral role within the accounting team, with responsibility for general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, accounts payable, payroll support, and financial reporting across multiple related entities.
This position offers significant ownership and visibility within the organization, including regular interaction with the CFO, Accounting Supervisor, and operational leadership. The Senior Accountant will also contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives designed to strengthen accounting workflows and improve efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle general ledger accounting across multiple related entities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany activity, eliminations, and chart of accounts maintenance.
- Assist in driving monthly and annual close processes with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, organization, and strong supporting documentation.
- Manage accounts payable processing, invoice coding, and expense allocation utilizing technology-enabled accounting workflows.
- Support and contribute to the continued development of automated and AI-assisted accounting processes.
- Coordinate biweekly payroll review and approval for approximately 25 employees.
- Code and allocate farming costs and operating expenses across multiple agricultural properties and operating locations.
- Maintain accurate property-level and entity-level accounting records.
- Prepare audit schedules, PBC requests, workpapers, and supporting documentation for the annual external audit.
- Respond to auditor requests and assist with the timely completion of audit requirements.
- Partner with the CFO, Accounting Supervisor, and operational teams to identify opportunities to improve, automate, and standardize recurring accounting processes.
- Document accounting procedures and help strengthen internal workflows and controls.
- Communicate accounting information clearly to operational managers, leadership, and other non-financial stakeholders.
- Assist with financial reporting, analysis, and special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, agriculture, manufacturing, or another multi-entity operating environment.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting financial schedules.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or a comparable accounting or ERP system.
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain clear, organized, and well-supported accounting documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA license or active CPA candidate.
- Previous experience within agriculture, wine production, food and beverage, or another comparable operating environment.
- Experience working within a multi-entity organization.
- Experience with property-level, farming, or operational cost accounting.
- Experience supporting external audits and preparing PBC schedules and workpapers.
- Exposure to accounting automation, AI-assisted accounting tools, or technology-driven process improvements.
- Strong interest in improving processes and adopting new tools and technologies.
