Senior Accountant

LHH is partnering with a fast-growing construction company in Oakland that is expanding its accounting team due to strong project growth and increasing backlog. This is a high-impact role offering visibility across operations, project teams, and leadership.

The company is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the nuances of construction accounting, including job costing and project-based financials. What You’ll Do:

• Own full-cycle accounting for construction operations, including A/P, A/R, and general ledger
• Manage job costing and project accounting, tracking budgets vs. actuals
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations and oversee cash activity
• Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Support WIP schedules, project forecasts, and cost analysis
• Maintain and reconcile fixed assets and equipment tracking
• Partner with operations and project managers on cost controls and reporting
• Assist with audit preparation, tax support, and year-end close
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, contracting, or project-based environments
• Strong QuickBooks experience (Desktop or Online required)
• Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, or percentage-of-completion accounting
• Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach
• Experience with ERP systems or construction software is a plus
