Senior Accountant

Location: New York City

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Position Overview

A growing alternative investment management firm is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join its finance and accounting team.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will support both private credit fund accounting and management company accounting. The role offers broad exposure across investment vehicles and the management company, including financial reporting, investor reporting, cash management, budgeting, liquidity forecasting, and operational initiatives.

The ideal candidate has experience or exposure within alternative investments, partnership accounting, or investment accounting and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with direct access to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Operational Support

  • Coordinate with third-party fund and loan administrators, auditors, and tax providers
  • Maintain loan accrual schedules and reconcile activity to administrator records
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly investor reporting
  • Support quarterly valuation processes
  • Assist with capital calls, distributions, and performance calculations
  • Maintain fund and portfolio track-record reporting

Management Company Accounting

  • Support monthly close and financial reporting processes
  • Assist with budgeting and variance analysis across revenue and operating expenses
  • Support cash forecasting and short-term liquidity planning
  • Assist with compliance-related accounting and operational activities in partnership with external providers

Process Improvement & Strategic Support

  • Help develop and enhance accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting workflows
  • Support technology, automation, and accounting process improvement initiatives
  • Partner cross-functionally with investment, compliance, investor relations, and operations teams
  • Participate in system implementations, strategic finance projects, and ad hoc analyses

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within alternative investments, asset management, private credit, or a related financial services environment
  • Understanding of GAAP, partnership accounting, and investment accounting concepts
  • Familiarity with management company accounting and operating entity financials
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
