Senior Accountant Consultant
Location: Montebello, CA
Pay: $35-50/hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Full-Time | Onsite
Position Type: Contract
Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant Consultant who can quickly integrate into the accounting team and provide immediate support with minimal training. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, has advanced Excel skills, and is comfortable taking ownership of month-end responsibilities and complex accounting tasks.
Responsibilities
- Support the month-end and year-end close process, including preparing and posting journal entries.
- Perform account, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations while researching and resolving discrepancies.
- Analyze financial data and prepare schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with general ledger maintenance and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Support accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other month-end accounting activities.
- Utilize advanced Excel to analyze large datasets, create Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP functions, and streamline reporting.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
- Assist with audit requests and prepare documentation for internal and external auditors.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and help maintain strong internal controls.
- Jump in wherever needed to support the accounting team and meet critical deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior-level accounting responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close procedures.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis).
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Available to start immediately is highly preferred.
