Senior IT Business Systems Analyst – Scheduling (Primavera P6 EPPM)

About the Role

An established energy and industrial organisation is seeking a Senior IT Business Systems Analyst specialising in scheduling systems to serve as a strategic advisor and functional owner for Primavera P6 EPPM and related enterprise integrations.

This senior individual contributor role will focus on ensuring reliable, integrated and decision-ready scheduling capabilities across Primavera P6 EPPM, SAP S/4HANA, the Project Integration Framework (PIF) and other systems supporting capital projects, engineering, maintenance and turnaround/outage activities.

The role partners closely with business and technology teams to translate operational requirements into effective systems and reporting solutions, while helping shape the organisation's technology roadmap and scheduling strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the strategic advisor and primary IT functional lead for scheduling initiatives involving Primavera P6, SAP and related enterprise integrations.
  • Own the functional relationship between business teams and IT for scheduling systems and associated integrations.
  • Partner with SAP functional and technical teams to validate SAP-to-P6 data mappings and assess downstream impacts of system changes.
  • Support integration testing, user acceptance testing and business test planning.
  • Analyse business requirements and develop solutions for scheduling and reporting across capital, engineering and turnaround/outage projects.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and technical requirements for development teams.
  • Develop data visualisations and reporting solutions to support informed business decisions.
  • Lead technology projects and enhancements from scope definition through implementation, ensuring stakeholder alignment throughout.
  • Coordinate with IT security, infrastructure teams, business owners and external vendors.
  • Provide regular project updates, documentation, status reporting and change control.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and selection of systems and technology solutions.
  • Help define the IT roadmap and long-term strategy for scheduling capabilities.
  • Establish the scope and strategy required to maintain reliable and current PIF and P6 environments.
  • Manage operational activities across scheduling projects and enhancements, including resource planning, documentation and issue management.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for P6 integration issues and enhancements involving SAP.
  • Advise business stakeholders on reporting strategies where SAP, P6 and other systems contribute to the overall source of truth.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day scheduling system management and disaster recovery processes for PIF and P6.
  • Establish and maintain processes that support departmental internal control requirements.
  • Identify control deficiencies and implement appropriate corrective actions in partnership with internal controls teams.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience working with Oracle PIF/P6 or comparable enterprise scheduling platforms.
  • Expert working knowledge of Oracle PIF and Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling systems and their application within complex business environments.
  • Experience working with SAP S/4HANA or strong SAP business process knowledge; hands-on SAP configuration is not required.
  • Experience validating system integrations and data mappings between enterprise applications.
  • Business testing, test planning and user acceptance testing experience.
  • Experience participating in structured change management processes and change control boards.
  • Understanding of PIF/P6 capabilities, system access and role-based security is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects through to completion.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technology teams.
  • Ability to understand business operations and translate business requirements into practical technology improvements.
  • Willingness to develop SAP knowledge where required.
