Senior Property Accountant

We are partnering with an established real estate firm seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced property accountant looking to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential real estate assets while working closely with property management, asset management, and senior leadership.

The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for an assigned portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packages
• Complete bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
• Analyze property-level financial results and investigate budget-to-actual variances
• Assist with annual property budgets and periodic forecasts
• Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash activity
• Track tenant receivables and other property-level activity
• Support CAM reconciliations and tenant-related accounting for commercial properties
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and supporting accounting records
• Assist with acquisition and disposition accounting as needed
• Coordinate with property managers, asset managers, lenders, auditors, and other internal and external partners
• Support year-end audit and tax processes
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate
• Strong property accounting and general ledger experience
• Experience with commercial and/or residential real estate strongly preferred
• Understanding of property-level financial statements and month-end close
• Strong Excel skills and experience with property accounting or ERP systems
• Experience with Yardi, MRI, or similar real estate accounting software is a plus
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently manage multiple properties and deadlines
