Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and taking ownership of financial reporting for a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, real estate or property accounting experience, and a proactive mindset focused on accuracy, process improvement, and business partnership.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and balance sheet accounts
  • Record and analyze accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting workpapers
  • Review rent rolls, tenant billings, CAM reconciliations, and lease-related accounting activity
  • Partner with property managers and operations teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Assist with annual budgets, year-end audit support, and tax preparation processes
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting deadlines
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting accuracy
  • Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on best practices when needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, with property or real estate accounting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with month-end close and account reconciliations
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and Excel
  • Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar property management software experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills:

  • Commercial real estate, multifamily, or mixed-use property accounting experience
  • CAM reconciliation experience
  • Audit support experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions
  • CPA or CPA track is a plus
