SVP, Marketing – Americas

Global Sports League | Reports to Chief Marketing Officer

Position Summary

The SVP, Marketing – Americas is a senior commercial leadership role responsible for driving the League's brand, fan engagement, and marketing strategy across the Americas region. This executive will lead a multidisciplinary marketing team and serve as the primary architect of how the League's brand shows up across paid, owned, and earned channels, live events, sponsorship activation, and cultural moments throughout the region. The role partners closely with the CMO, regional commercial leadership, member clubs/franchises, media and broadcast partners, and global brand teams to deliver integrated marketing programs that grow fandom, drive revenue, and strengthen the League's position as a premier global sports property.

This is a high-visibility role requiring a leader who can operate at both the strategic and executional level, balancing global brand consistency with regional cultural relevance.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Marketing Strategy & Growth

  • Develop and execute the Americas marketing strategy in alignment with the League's global brand platform and business priorities
  • Identify and prioritize fan growth opportunities across core, casual, and next-generation fan segments in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America
  • Own regional marketing P&L and budget allocation across brand, digital, content, events, and partnership marketing
  • Translate League-wide strategic priorities into regionally relevant campaigns and go-to-market plans

Brand Strategy & Stewardship

  • Serve as a key steward of the League's global brand identity within the Americas, ensuring consistency while allowing for regional cultural nuance
  • Partner with the global brand and creative teams on brand architecture, positioning, and visual identity evolution
  • Oversee brand governance across League properties, sub-brands, event brands, and co-branded partner marks
  • Guide creative development for major brand campaigns, ensuring work is distinctive, insight-driven, and culturally resonant
  • Monitor brand health metrics (awareness, affinity, consideration, NPS) and adjust strategy based on performance

Sports & Fan Marketing

  • Lead fan engagement and lifecycle marketing strategies that grow attendance, viewership, and digital engagement
  • Oversee marketing support for marquee events, playoffs, all-star/showcase events, and league-wide moments
  • Partner with content and social teams to develop always-on and real-time content strategies tied to live game action
  • Drive ticketing, hospitality, and experiential marketing initiatives in partnership with club/franchise marketing leads
  • Build strategies to grow international and multicultural fan bases, including targeted Latin America market development
  • Collaborate with broadcast and media partners on tune-in campaigns and co-marketing initiatives

Sponsorship & Partnership Marketing

  • Partner with the partnerships/sponsorship sales organization to develop marketing activation frameworks that deliver value to corporate partners and sponsors
  • Oversee execution of sponsor integrations across campaigns, events, and digital platforms
  • Ensure brand and sponsor marketing are integrated seamlessly without diluting League brand equity

Digital, Social & Content Marketing

  • Set regional strategy for social media, digital marketing, CRM, and performance marketing in partnership with global digital teams
  • Drive fan data and personalization strategy to improve marketing effectiveness and fan lifetime value
  • Oversee regional media planning and buying strategy across paid channels

Team Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing regional marketing team spanning brand, digital, content, events, and partnership marketing functions
  • Set clear goals, provide coaching, and build succession depth across the team
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Manage relationships with external agencies (creative, media, PR, experiential) and hold them to a high performance bar
  • Represent the marketing function in cross-departmental leadership forums, including with league operations, communications, and revenue teams

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Act as a trusted partner to the CMO, contributing to global marketing strategy and League-wide brand decisions
  • Build strong working relationships with member clubs/franchises to align regional and local marketing efforts
  • Partner with communications and PR teams to ensure integrated messaging across brand, media, and reputation management
  • Present marketing strategy, performance, and recommendations to senior League leadership and, as needed, ownership/board stakeholders

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, with significant experience in sports, or sports entertainment - C-Suite is looking for individuals with longevity at each job.
  • Proven experience overseeing brand strategy and creative development for a large, multi-stakeholder organization
  • Demonstrated success building and leading marketing teams of significant scale (20+ preferred)
  • Strong track record in fan/consumer engagement marketing, sponsorship activation, and integrated campaign development
  • Experience working across live events, broadcast/media partnerships, and digital/social ecosystems
  • Familiarity with the U.S. sports and entertainment landscape required; experience in Latin American markets a strong plus
  • Executive presence and the ability to operate effectively with senior league leadership, club/franchise executives, and external partners
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree is a must.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to: Chief Marketing Officer Direct reports: Regional marketing team leads across brand, digital/social, content, events, and partnership marketing (team size and structure to be finalized based on organizational design)

Location

Based in a primary Americas market hub (e.g., New York, NY), with regular travel to League events, club markets, and partner meetings across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
