We're partnering with a school district in Cook County, Illinois to hire a dedicated Special Education Teacher (LBS1) for the 2026–2027 school year.


This full-time, onsite opportunity is ideal for a collaborative special educator who is passionate about supporting junior high students in an inclusive learning environment. The selected candidate will serve as a 7th Grade Co-Taught Special Education Teacher, supporting students in both English Language Arts and Math while working closely with general education teachers to ensure student success.


Position Details:

  • Location: Onsite in Cook County, IL
  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
  • Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:15 PM
  • School Year: 2026–2027
  • Grade Level: Junior High (7th Grade)
  • Setting: Co-Taught Inclusion Classroom
  • Caseload: 10 students total - 5 students in ELA / 5 students in Math


Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in a co-teaching environment.
  • Implement and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, modifications, and instructional supports.
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers to ensure students have access to grade-level curriculum.
  • Monitor student progress and utilize data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Support students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth within the general education setting.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant special education documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, independence, and achievement.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required
  • Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement required
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, accommodations, modifications, and special education compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting students in inclusion and co-taught classroom settings preferred
  • Strong collaboration, communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, general education teachers, and multidisciplinary teams
