Role Title: Senior Technical Product Manager / Solutions Architect (K–12 EdTech)

Employment Type: Part-Time/Contract

Location: San Diego or Southern CA preferred

Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile Senior Technical Product Manager / Solutions Architect who thrives at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution. In this role, you will bridge the gap between non-technical stakeholders and engineering teams. You will translate complex educational workflows into precise technical specifications. The ideal candidate brings deep domain expertise in K–12 education technology, specifically with Student Information Systems (SIS). You will be responsible for defining the architecture, integrations, and detailed requirements that power our secure, data-driven educational platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Architecture: Own the end-to-end documentation lifecycle. Write clear functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and strict acceptance criteria.
  • Technical Modeling: Author comprehensive technical artifacts. These include process/workflow diagrams, data dictionaries, field-mapping documents, and edge-case/error-handling protocols.
  • System & API Integration Design: Define data-exchange requirements for complex system integrations, mapping out APIs, data schemas, and authentication protocols.
  • Cross-Functional Translation: Facilitate discovery sessions with educators, administrators, and non-technical stakeholders. Translate their operational needs into technical realities for engineering.
  • Agile Collaboration: Partner with software developers, QA engineering teams, and product owners to ensure clear alignment and high-quality software delivery.
  • Data Stewardship: Define rigorous requirements for systems handling highly sensitive, student-regulated data, ensuring strict compliance and data security.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience authoring software and system requirements for engineering teams.
  • Domain Expertise: Prefer track record working within the K–12 EdTech sector.
  • SIS Specialization: Strong working knowledge of K–12 Student Information Systems (SIS) is highly preferred.
  • System Knowledge: Direct exposure to Special Education systems and compliance frameworks is a major bonus, but not required.
  • Technical Literacy: Deep understanding of relational databases and system integration concepts (including IDs, tables, fields, SQL joins, database schemas, automated imports/exports, APIs, and modern authentication methods).
